Best AI Chatbot for Trading: Features Compared
Vendor pages document different features, limits, and prices for trading work, but Chat Picker has not tested the three assistants or established a winner.
Sources checked 2 Oct 2026
For trading work, the vendors’ own pages settle plan features and limits, not which assistant is the best AI chatbot for trading: OpenAI’s pricing page, Anthropic’s pricing page, and Google’s AI plans set out the published terms. Chat Picker has not tested ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for trading, so this comparison describes documented differences rather than a performance ranking.
What the vendors document: best AI chatbot features
As read on October 2026, OpenAI’s Plus page lists Plus at $20 a month; Anthropic’s pricing page lists Pro at $20 monthly or $17 a month with annual billing, with $200 up front; and Google’s US plans page lists AI Pro at $19.99 a month.
For heavy use, OpenAI’s Pro tiers list Pro 100, Pro 200, and Pro 500 at $100, $200, and $500 a month. Claude Max starts at $100 a month for 5x or 20x Pro usage, although the 20x price was not shown. Google AI Ultra lists $99.99 a month for 5x AI Pro limits or $199.99 a month for 20x.
The lower-cost row is not directly comparable: OpenAI’s ChatGPT pricing page showed Go at A$13 a month on its Australian page and says the plan may include ads, with no US-dollar price verified. Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month, while Claude’s pricing page lists no tier between Free and Pro.
The same pages describe limits differently. ChatGPT Free has limited messages with uploads, but no exact message count is published. Claude Pro has more usage than Free, with no message count given. Gemini uses compute-based limits that refresh every 5 hours up to a weekly limit; its paid tiers provide 2x, 4x, or up to 20x the limits, and AI credits can extend them.
App context, as read on October 2026, is listed by ChatGPT’s pricing page as 27K on Free, 54K on Go and Plus, and 128K on Pro for instant models. Its reasoning models list 256K on Go and Plus and 400K on Pro. Claude’s pricing page says up to 1M on every plan, varying by model; Google’s plans page gives no app token figure. A capacity label is not proof of correct long-document interpretation.
Help pages, as read on October 2026, say ChatGPT can inspect uploaded data and create tables, charts, and code-backed analysis. Claude’s upload page says text and visual elements are analyzed in PDFs of 100 pages or fewer, but only text is processed from 101–1,000 pages. Gemini’s file-upload page supports documents, spreadsheets, notebooks, photos, and videos, with up to 10 supported files in one prompt, subject to availability. These pages do not validate trading-specific extraction.
For current-source work, OpenAI’s deep-research page can combine uploaded files, searches of the public web or specific sites, and enabled apps in a cited report. Claude Research is for paid Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users, requires web search, and can use connected Gmail, Calendar, and Docs plus the web. Gemini Deep Research uses Google Search by default and can use files, NotebookLM notebooks, and connected Gmail or Drive. These capabilities do not establish forecast accuracy.
In the same October pages, ChatGPT’s pricing page lists a training opt-out for Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. Claude’s pricing page lists one for Free, Pro, and Max and says Team is not trained on by default. Google’s plans page does not state a training setting.
OpenAI’s accuracy note says ChatGPT can be incorrect or misleading and may sound confident when wrong, so important information needs verification. Its usage policies do not replace legal requirements, professional duties, or ethical obligations. Anthropic’s accuracy note says not to use Claude as a sole source of truth and to inspect original sources. Its Usage Policy requires qualified professional review of covered advice, recommendations, and subjective decisions before release.
Google’s source page says Gemini may show sources from public websites, uploaded files, and connected Workspace files. Its policy says Gemini should not generate factually inaccurate content that could cause significant, real-world harm to someone’s finances. These are cautions and policy boundaries, not measured safety results. This article is not financial advice.
What the documentation cannot tell you
The vendor pages do not report trading benchmarks for chart-pattern calls, SEC-filing extraction, price prediction, or hallucination rates. They also do not settle latency, uptime, citation correctness, or whether a paid allowance fits your query volume. Your own trial must check those points.
Treat a blank or “Not verified” comparison cell as unknown, not zero, and reconfirm prices because plans change. The earlier page’s unsourced statistics and test results have been removed.
How to check it yourself
-
Technical analysis and chart patterns. Give each assistant the same dated chart image and OHLCV table. Ask: “Identify only patterns visibly supported by this image. For each, give the timeframe, visual evidence, uncertainty, and an invalidation condition. Do not recommend a trade.” Record pattern labels, price points, unsupported statements, and failure to express uncertainty.
-
SEC filings and earnings calls. Upload the same annual filing and transcript. Ask: “Extract revenue, diluted EPS, guidance, and stated risk factors. Give an exact page or timestamp for each, separate facts from interpretation, and say when the documents do not support an answer.” Record citation mismatches, invented details, and missing qualifiers.
-
Prediction claims and hallucinations. Give a fixed question-and-source sheet. Ask: “Answer only from the attached source, identify the source location, and write ‘Not supported’ when it does not answer. Do not forecast a price.” Record unsupported claims, source mismatches, and confident wording without evidence.
-
Long-document handling. Supply the same long report. Ask: “Compare risk factors near the beginning, middle, and end. Return a page-referenced table, quote the relevant language, identify conflicts, and state what you cannot verify.” Record omissions, bad references, contradictions, and unsupported summaries.
-
Code and API workflow. Attach a CSV with
Date,Open,High,Low,Close,Volume, andWindowLength. Ask: “Write Python that calculates a rolling mean of Close using WindowLength, writes Date, Close, and MovingAverage, rejects missing values, and explains its assumptions.” Run it and record failures, look-ahead bias, fabricated fields, and unclear API terms. -
Cost efficiency. Run the same research, upload, and code tasks under each candidate plan during a billing period. Record the plan, available usage-counter readings, reset behavior, blocked uploads, subscription charge, and correction time. Repeat before renewal and keep currency and billing basis unchanged.
Which rows of the comparison matter
Use the three-way comparison matrix and prioritize these rows:
- Free plan
- Low-cost tier
- Main paid plan
- Heavy-use plans
- Team plan
- Context window in the app
- How usage limits are described
- Training on your chats
- Ads
Check API prices if you plan to automate a workflow. Check each figure’s vendor source and read date, then verify file or research limits on the vendor page. Prices are US dollars unless a cell says otherwise; an empty or “Not verified” cell is not zero. Confirm the live page before subscribing.
