Best AI Chatbot Apps Across Web, Mobile, and Desktop
Vendor pages document access, prices, limits, data controls, and accuracy cautions for ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, but they do not establish which assistant is best for your tasks.

For the best AI chatbot apps across web, mobile, and desktop, vendor pages can settle part of the practical shortlist: documented availability, plan features, prices, usage limits, and data controls. They cannot establish which assistant will work best for your tasks, and Chat Picker has not tested the three assistants for quality, speed, accuracy, or reliability.
What the vendors document for the best AI chatbot apps
As read on October 2026, the figures below were checked on October 1, 2026.
OpenAI’s “What is ChatGPT Plus?” page lists Plus at $20 per month. It says Plus adds more messages and broader model options than Free, plus voice conversations, image generation, file uploads and analysis, and Deep Research tools where available. The plan is offered on ChatGPT’s website and supported apps, while usage caps can vary with system conditions. OpenAI’s file-upload FAQ sets three uploads per day for Free and says OpenAI may lower that limit during peak hours.
Anthropic’s pricing page lists Free chat on web, desktop, and mobile, while Pro and Max add usage and capabilities. Usage limits reset on a rolling five-hour window; paid plans add weekly limits, and web, desktop, mobile, and Claude Code draw from one pool. The page says usable capacity varies with conversation length, complexity, model, and feature use, so it publishes no fixed message count.
Google’s US plans page lists Free at $0 with a Google Account, AI Plus at $4.99 per month with twice the Free usage access, and AI Pro at $19.99 per month with four times the Free usage access and 5 TB storage. Google’s Gemini Apps limits page says capacity depends on prompt complexity, models, features, and chat length; a limit refreshes every five hours until the weekly limit is reached.
For data controls, OpenAI’s pricing page says an opt-out from training on chats is available on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. Anthropic’s pricing page says it is available on Free, Pro, and Max, while Team is not trained on by default. The Google plans page does not state a chat-training setting, so that point remains unverified.
OpenAI’s accuracy guidance says ChatGPT can be incorrect or misleading and may sound confident when wrong; Anthropic’s incorrect-response guidance says Claude can occasionally mislead and advises checking cited sources. Gemini Apps sometimes shows a Sources button and side panel.
OpenAI’s usage policies prohibit tailored legal or medical advice without appropriate involvement by a licensed professional. Anthropic’s Usage Policy requires qualified review of covered advice before release, while Google’s safety and policy guidelines say Gemini should not produce inaccurate output that could significantly harm health, safety, or finances.
What the documentation cannot tell you
Vendor pages describe plans and policies, not controlled trials of your work. They do not settle interface consistency, sync speed, whether edits follow you cleanly between devices, or whether the same prompt produces the same useful structure across surfaces.
Chat Picker has no quality, speed, accuracy, reliability, or benchmark results, scores, rankings, surveys, or user statistics of its own. An older version of this page used statistics and test results without sources; those claims have been removed.
How to check it yourself
-
Web baseline. Attach the same release notes to each assistant and use: “Read the attached release notes, write a concise launch summary, preserve every date and version exactly, and attach a source reference for each factual statement.” Check tool access, formatting, source handling, and any limit warning. Record what you supplied, what the answer included or omitted, and every extra step.
-
Mobile portability. Use the same kind of attached document and this prompt: “Read the attached product brief aloud as a concise voice briefing, then create a text checklist that preserves every factual detail.” Note whether upload, voice, camera, formatting, and handoff controls are present. Write down the steps required on your phone and any account or feature restriction shown.
-
Desktop workflow. Give each assistant a spreadsheet and use: “Analyze the attached spreadsheet, show revenue by region, preserve the column names, show the formula used, and flag blank cells.” Look for file handling, tables or charts, code output, exports, and interruptions. Log the workflow steps and any limit message.
-
Sync and continuity. Use: “Read the attached project brief and create a launch-decision checklist that separates confirmed facts from unresolved questions.” Create it on one device, close the app, and reopen it on another. Repeat under the same network conditions. Record elapsed time, missing items, changed edits, and whether source files remain available.
-
Input and output consistency. Run the same prompt across surfaces: “Turn the attached customer email into a support reply, preserve every date and amount, and mark ambiguity instead of guessing.” Compare structure, omissions, invented details, citations, and formatting. Save the answers side by side and note every material difference.
-
Platform-specific choice. Repeat your recurring document tasks where you actually work. Review the trial notes beside each plan’s documented limits and account controls. Write down the device, plan, required features, and acceptable interruptions for each task, then choose the option that fits your pattern.
Which rows of the comparison matter
On the Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini matrix, focus on the rows for Free plan, Low-cost tier, Main paid plan, How usage limits are described, Context window in the app, Training on your chats, and Ads. Add Heavy-use plans or Team plan if they apply to your situation.
Read every figure with its vendor link and checked date, as explained in Chat Picker’s method. Treat “Not verified” as unknown, not zero, and confirm a vendor’s current regional price before subscribing.
