Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini: Languages
Vendor pages document language settings, voice access, plan limits, and source tools for ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, but no shared test settles output quality.

For Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini, the vendor pages document ChatGPT’s language setting, Claude’s voice mode, Gemini’s language reach, and Gemini Live. The vendor pages we read do not establish a quality ranking for writing, translation, language switching, or multilingual accuracy, and Chat Picker’s method says it has not tested the assistants for this use.
What the vendors document
OpenAI’s language-setting help page says a supported browser or mobile language is detected automatically; signed-in users can select another language. Google’s Gemini availability page says the web app works in more than 70 languages and over 230 countries and territories, while mobile availability may differ. The vendor pages we read do not give a comparable Claude app-language list or count. Both figures are as read on October 2026.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT Voice page says Live can handle text and images in the same chat, but not video or screen sharing; access varies by plan, workspace, region, app version, and parental controls. Anthropic’s voice help describes beta access on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise across mobile, desktop, and web, with conversations counting toward plan usage. Google’s Gemini Live page says Live currently requires Android, is unavailable on the web and in Google Messages, and is receiving updates gradually.
On free plans, OpenAI’s pricing page lists unlimited text chats with GPT-5.6 Luna but limited uploads, images, voice, and deep research; Anthropic’s pricing page lists web search, file creation, code execution, and memory; Google’s US AI plans page requires an account and lists 15 GB storage.
For individual paid plans, OpenAI’s Plus page lists $20/month; Anthropic’s pricing page lists Claude Pro at $20 monthly or $17/month with annual billing, with $200 up front; and Google’s US AI plans page lists AI Pro at $19.99/month. These plan figures are as read on October 2026; confirm current terms before subscribing.
Usage is not documented in one common unit. OpenAI’s pricing page says Plus has expanded messages and uploads but gives no exact message count. Anthropic’s pricing page says Pro offers more usage than Free but also gives no count. Google’s US AI plans page says compute limits refresh every 5 hours up to a weekly limit.
For long inputs, OpenAI’s pricing page lists 256K context for reasoning models on Go and Plus and 400K on Pro. Anthropic’s pricing page says up to 1M on every plan, varying by model. Google’s US AI plans page gives no app token figure but lists file uploads of up to 1,500 pages. These figures are as read on October 2026.
For chats, OpenAI’s pricing page says a training opt-out is available on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. Anthropic’s pricing page says Free, Pro, and Max have an opt-out, while Team is not trained on by default. Google’s plans page links to a data explanation but does not state a training setting; Chat Picker’s matrix marks the item “Not verified.”
OpenAI’s accuracy note says ChatGPT may be wrong or misleading and can sound confident when wrong, so users should verify important information. Anthropic’s accuracy note says not to rely on Claude as the only source of truth and to check cited sources and original pages. Google’s source guide says Gemini may show source links in or below responses. Google’s safety guidelines say context matters when outputs are evaluated and prohibit factually inaccurate outputs that could cause significant harm to health, safety, or finances.
What the documentation cannot tell you
These pages settle documented features and policy, not performance on your material. They do not tell you which assistant will preserve your tone, handle code-switching, keep terminology consistent, avoid omissions, or return useful citations for your documents.
Run identical prompts, files, and constraints on the plans and regions you actually plan to use. Record both successful instructions and failures instead of relying on a general impression. The previous version’s unsourced statistics and test results have been removed.
How to check it yourself
Use the same account settings, plan, and material for each run.
-
Translation and terms. Give each:
Translate this sentence into Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese: “We can extend your free trial if you contact support before noon UTC.” Use a polite business register, keep “free trial” consistent in both translations, and explain any ambiguity.Check meaning, omissions, register, and terminology. Write down each term change and ambiguity. -
Language switching. Give each:
Explain how a delayed software update can affect users. Answer in English, Spanish, and Japanese without restarting. Keep technical terms consistent and end each answer with “Check the status page.”Check meaning drift and missed instructions. Record every term change. -
Long documents. Upload the same product manual, then send:
List the documented steps for exporting a report, cite the section heading for each step, and flag any instruction the manual does not explain.Check references, omissions, and added claims. Write down errors and whether citations point to the file. -
Source checks. Give each:
Find the current official OpenAI Help page for changing ChatGPT’s language setting. Use only OpenAI-owned pages, quote the instruction, give the URL and the date you read it, and say “Not verified” if you cannot confirm it.Check the primary source, quotation, URL, and date. Record unsupported claims. -
Voice. In each available voice mode, say:
Explain in English how to check a report’s status, then switch to Spanish. Keep “dashboard” untranslated.Interrupt once to add a constraint. Check completion, pronunciation, interruption handling, and term consistency. Write down access limits and missed instructions.
Which rows of the comparison matter: Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini
Open the three-way comparison matrix. Focus on Free plan, Low-cost tier, Main paid plan, Heavy-use plans, Context window in the app, How usage limits are described, and Training on your chats. Add Team plan for a group purchase.
Check each figure’s linked vendor source and read date. “Not verified” or a blank means no figure was confirmed, not that a feature is absent. The matrix compares published terms; it does not rank language quality.
