How to Choose an AI Assistant Review Site
An AI assistant review site should link dated vendor facts, disclose its testing status, and leave unconfirmed figures blank instead of turning them into rankings.

Choose an AI assistant review site that links claims to first-party pages, dates its figures, separates documented features from judgments, and admits what it has not tested. For this choice, vendor pages can settle documented prices, features, limits, controls, and support routes, but not performance on your work; Chat Picker has not tested ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for quality, speed, accuracy, or reliability and has no scores, rankings, survey data, or user statistics. The earlier version’s unsourced statistics and test results have been removed.
What the vendors document
Vendor pages settle the basic price steps. As read on October 1, 2026:
- ChatGPT: OpenAI lists Plus at $20 per month.
- Claude: Anthropic lists Pro at $20 per month in the US, with an annual subscription option.
- Gemini: Google lists AI Pro at $19.99 per month.
Each vendor also lists a free plan: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Their included tools and limits differ.
Paid features also differ. OpenAI lists voice, image generation, file upload and analysis, and Deep Research where available. Anthropic lists Claude Code, Claude Design, Slides, Docs, and projects for Pro. Google lists video generation and Daily Brief with AI Pro. Check the current page before subscribing.
Usage limits are not cross-vendor benchmarks. In pages read on October 1, 2026, OpenAI says Plus may have message caps that vary with demand, while its pricing page gives no exact count. Anthropic says Pro use varies with message, file, and conversation length and the feature used, with five-hour and weekly limits. Google says Gemini limits depend on prompt complexity and chat length and refresh every five hours until a weekly limit.
For data handling, an OpenAI data-controls page read on October 1, 2026 says signed-in users can turn off model improvement and that temporary chats may be retained for up to 30 days for safety. Anthropic says chats and coding sessions may improve Claude when the user allows this, while incognito chats are excluded. The Google plans page does not state a model-training choice, so leave that point unconfirmed.
The accuracy notes do not rank the services. OpenAI warns that ChatGPT may sound confident when wrong and says important information should be checked. Anthropic says not to rely on Claude as your only source of truth and to inspect original sources. Google’s related-sources page explains when a Sources button appears, but it does not establish that an answer is accurate.
Support and community are separate routes. OpenAI Support starts with a virtual assistant and may bring in a human, while the OpenAI Developer Community says it is not for ChatGPT app discussion. Claude support is written and asynchronous, with no phone or live-chat support. The Gemini Apps Community contains community posts and guides, while a separate Google help page says Google One members can get support from a Google expert.
Before paying, check the exit path. Claude’s export page, read October 1, 2026, says individual Free, Pro, and Max users can export data; Team and Enterprise exports are available only to the organization’s Primary Owner; and download links expire after 24 hours. OpenAI’s cancellation page, read the same day, says cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund prior charges. Store-billed subscriptions must be canceled through the store, and canceling at least 24 hours before the next billing date avoids the next period’s charge. The vendor pages read for this comparison do not state matching Gemini export or cancellation terms; verify current terms rather than infer that no option exists.
What the documentation cannot tell you
Vendor pages settle only what they explicitly state: listed prices, features, limits, and controls. They do not tell you whether an assistant will handle your terminology, files, citations, or workflow correctly. A context figure is a capacity, not proof of recall, and a listed tool is not proof of a usable result.
Chat Picker has no trial results, scores, or user data to fill that gap. Treat its rows as documented reference points, not a measured ranking. On any review site, require traceable methods, dated figures, and a clear boundary between vendor claims and the site’s own judgment.
How to check it yourself
-
Set a baseline. Give each assistant the same non-sensitive document and this prompt: “Create a 10-bullet launch checklist from this fictional product brief. Separate supplied facts from your assumptions.” Check missed constraints, invented details, and formatting. Repeat it in a fresh chat and write down the plan, date, elapsed time, input, response, and differences between runs.
-
Test source handling. Use this prompt: “Find the current official pricing pages for ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, and Google AI Pro. State each monthly price, billing basis, date shown, and source link.” Open every link, check the currency and billing period, and record broken links, unsupported claims, or missing dates.
-
Test document handling. Attach a long, non-sensitive manual and ask: “List every documented troubleshooting condition for a failed upload, quote the relevant passage, and label anything not found in the document.” Check whether quotations match and whether answers stay within the file. Record omissions and unsupported additions.
-
Test structured work. Give each assistant a non-sensitive spreadsheet and ask: “Group rows by region, calculate each group’s mean, and return a table followed by the formula you used.” Check calculations, labels, file output, and any stated tool use. Record any corrections required.
-
Check controls and operations. In a fresh chat, say: “Remember that this test project is called Harbor Review.” Then inspect memory, model-training, export, and usage settings. Before subscribing, check the official price, support, export, and cancellation pages; record the billing channel, annual commitment, support route, export owner, and refund language. Never upload confidential material merely to test it.
Which rows of the comparison matter
In the Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini matrix, start with the rows labeled Free plan, Low-cost tier, Main paid plan, Heavy-use plans, Team plan, Context window in app, How usage limits are described, Training on your chats, and Ads. Also check the official export, cancellation, support, and community pages for your intended plan.
Chat Picker lists prices in US dollars unless a cell says otherwise. Vendors charge different amounts in different countries, and plans change, so open the original vendor page before subscribing. A Not verified blank means the figure was not confirmed; it does not mean the feature or option is absent. The sourcing method should remain your guide when a comparison cell is incomplete.
